The Company with Great Benefits and certified as "A Great Place to Work".</div></div></div><h2>Responsibilities</h2><div><div><div>Installation and Configuration<ul><li><ul><li>Install and configure Ciena networking equipment, including routers, switches, and optical devices like the Ciena 6500 Packet-Optical Platform.</li><li>Ensure proper installation of fiber optics, cabling, and hardware components to meet design and performance specifications.</li><li>Perform software and firmware upgrades on Ciena products.</li></ul></li></ul>Testing and Troubleshooting<ul><li><ul><li>Conduct equipment testing using tools such as OTDRs, spectrum analyzers, and light meters to verify performance and resolve issues.</li><li>Perform Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT) and latency checks for new and existing network deployments.</li><li>Diagnose and resolve issues related to physical layer connectivity, signal integrity, and optical performance.</li></ul></li></ul>Maintenance and Optimization<ul><li><ul><li>Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Ciena systems to ensure reliability and performance.</li><li>Monitor system performance, analyze KPIs, and implement optimization strategies to enhance network efficiency.</li><li>Collaborate with customers and internal teams to address escalations and service-impacting issues.</li></ul></li></ul>Documentation and Reporting<ul><li><ul><li>Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.</li><li>Create reports on testing results, equipment performance, and project statuses.</li><li>Provide feedback to engineering teams for continuous improvement of products and processes.</li></ul></li></ul>Customer Interaction<ul><li><ul><li>Serve as the primary on-site technical contact for customers, ensuring satisfaction and clear communication.</li><li>Provide training and technical guidance to customers on Ciena products and tools.</li></ul></li></ul>Compliance and Safety<ul><li><ul><li>Adhere to industry safety standards and best practices, including FCC and OSHA guidelines.</li><li>Ensure all installations meet regulatory compliance requirements.</li></ul></li></ul></div></div></div><h2>Qualifications</h2><div><div><div>Education and Experience:<ul><li><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).</li><li>3+ years of experience in a similar field technician role, ideally with exposure to Ciena equipment.</li></ul></li></ul>Technical Skills:<ul><li><ul><li>Hands on experience with Ciena 5164 Transport Router</li><li>Proficiency with Ciena systems, including the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform and WaveLogic technology.</li><li>Familiarity with optical transport technologies (DWDM, ROADM, SONET) and Layer 2/3 networking protocols.</li><li>Hands-on experience with RF and optical testing tools such as OTDR, spectrum analyzers, and light meters.</li><li>Hands on experience with fiber splicing, fiber testing, cabling, cable management, connector testing, new racks and power connections.</li><li>Hands on experience with Ethernet Testing, OTDR Testing, and Programming the Routers.</li><li>Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) is a plus.</li></ul></li></ul>Soft Skills:<ul><li><ul><li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul></li></ul>Certifications:<ul><li><ul><li>Relevant certifications such as Ciena Certified, CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) are preferred.</li></ul></li></ul>Join Our Veteran-Friendly Team:Are you a veteran or a veteran spouse with expertise in telecommunications?
