FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS Determine number, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions Select and place rod in forms, spacing and fastening them together Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches Bend steel rods with hand tools and rod-bending machines Cut and fit wire mesh fabric using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce the it May weld reinforcing bars together Ensure that all reinforcing material is in proper position to receive its intended structural load Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors QUALIFICATIONS One (1) to four (4) years of experience as an Apprentice or Rodbuster NCCER Certification is preferred but not required Pre-employment craft test, drug screen, physical, background check, and completion of safety training is a condition of employment Must complete work accurately and follow all safety rules Must be familiar with relevant hand and power tools Able to work well in a team environment Organized and self-motivated PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must comply with company's drug and alcohol abuse policy Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.) Able to carry 50 lbs.
