They include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist the trauma surgeon in the initial evaluation and management of the injured patient according to the ATLS protocol Assist the surgeon in the initial evaluation and management of acute care surgery consultations in the Emergency Department or in the hospital Perform as first assistant to the trauma or acute care surgeon in the operating room.
