Responsibilities:
What You’ll Be DoingAs an HR Consultant, you will act as a trusted extension of your clients’ leadership teams, delivering strategic and compliant HR guidance across a broad range of people functions. Client Partnership & Strategy<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Build strong, trust-based relationships with assigned clients by gaining a deep understanding of their business models, workforce, and goals.</li><li>Align people strategies with client business objectives, ensuring HR initiatives support growth, performance, and sustainability.</li><li>Lead monthly client meetings, delivering insights, recommendations, and follow-up actions that drive high customer satisfaction.</li></ul>HR Consulting & Advisory<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Provide expert guidance across the full spectrum of HR functions, including: </li><li><ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Development and maintenance of employee handbooks, job descriptions, and workplace policies</li><li>Compensation analysis, pay structures, and compensation strategy</li><li>Hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention initiatives</li><li>Performance evaluation frameworks, expectations, and outcomes</li><li>Employee relations matters such as dispute resolution, corrective action, leaves of absence (LOA), and reductions in force (RIF)</li><li>Culture initiatives, DEI principles, EEO compliance, and discrimination prevention</li><li>Compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws, with a strong emphasis on California labor law</li></ul></li><li>Identify potential legal and compliance risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.</li></ul>Data, Compliance & Thought Leadership<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to deliver data-driven recommendations to clients.</li><li>Stay current on employment law changes, HR best practices, and industry trends, translating updates into practical, client-ready guidance.</li><li>Design and deliver training sessions and webinars for clients and internal teams on HR best practices, compliance updates, and emerging trends.</li></ul> 

Qualifications:
What You’ll Need for This Position<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>8+ years of progressive HR advising experience, preferably in a client-facing or consulting environment</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field</li><li>Proven consulting skills with the ability to distill complex information and deliver clear, concise, and actionable guidance</li><li>Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws, with a strong concentration in California</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with clients and internal stakeholders</li><li>Polished written, verbal, and presentation skills</li><li>Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and advanced problem-solving capabilities</li><li>Demonstrated conflict resolution and employee relations expertise</li><li>Exceptional organization and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously</li><li>Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment</li><li>Proficiency in HRIS platforms and related HR technology tools</li><li>Ability to travel to client sites as needed (up to 10%)</li></ul>Bonus Skills<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Experience supporting clients in the agriculture industry</li><li>HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or PHRca)</li><li>Spanish language proficiency</li></ul> What’s in it for You<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Remote-based role from California (or Pacific Time Zone) with flexibility and autonomy</li><li>The opportunity to work as a strategic advisor with diverse clients across industries</li><li>Exposure to complex, high-impact HR challenges that build long-term consulting expertise</li><li>A collaborative, values-driven culture where your expertise and voice matter</li></ul> Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 to $100,000. Remote Eligibility: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Pinion office or attendance at offsites, as requested/required by the firm and/or your supervisor.
