Position Description: Sustainability Specialist  The primary function of this position is to support CR&R in the planning, development and execution of waste diversion and recycling programs with the ultimate goal of compliance with regulations for municipal solid waste collection, recycling and disposal contracts assigned by CR&R.    Specific Duties and Responsibilities  <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Maintain the established tracking, monitoring and reporting for municipal contract compliance.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Work effectively with city staff and consultants to ensure contract compliance.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Interface with residents, commercial/industrial customers, civic/non-profit/community members, governmental agencies’ staff, school officials, media and members of the general public on service issues and/or concerns.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Ability to “sell” recycling programs and maintain participation of programs.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Implementation and communication of external/internal public education and community outreach programs (i.e. commercial recycling, construction recycling, school programs, special event recycling, etc.).</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Perform waste audits on commercial and multi-family accounts.      </li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual progress reports for cities.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Compile data and prepare diversion reports for submission to assigned cities.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Provide facility tours and coordinate scheduling.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Act as representative at various community and governmental agency meetings (chamber, civic, community events and council meetings).</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Perform other tasks as needed.</li></ul></li></ul>   Experience and Skills Required  <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Proficient in English language mechanics and strong verbal/written communication skills.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Strong customer service skills and ability to handle escalated situations.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Knowledge of and proficiency in research and analysis.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Public speaking skills.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Strong project management skills.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">Strong computer skills, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Access.</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li><ul><li style="color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal">2 years prior industry related experience.</li></ul></li></ul>   Education Requirements:  Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Business, or Public Administration related fields.

experience with broad exposure to the technology, pharmaceutical/biotech, manufacturing, power, chemical, and/or oil and gas sectors.</li><li>Knowledge of California regulations and local, state and federal EHS regulations.</li><li>Ability to travel within Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, Anaheim, etc.) and based on business needs travel outside of the Southern California area.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively.</li><li>Ability to work independently and in a team setting.</li><li>Effectively and succinctly, communicate with clients, ERM employees, and vendors.</li><li>Good team player, especially during challenging situations. </li><li>Strong work ethic with a passion to learn, grow, and thrive.</li><li>Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent annual base pay of $100,474 – $127,553USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
