<div>STATUS: Part Time</div><div>DIVISION: Undergraduate Studies</div><div>REPORTS TO: Chair of Liberal Arts</div><div>SUPERVISES: N/A</div><div>FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt</div><div> </div><div>Position Description</div><div>The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for adjunct faculty members to teach Introduction to Sustainability in the Winter of 2027. </div><div>Course description: This course introduces sustainability for art and design students, exploring environmental systems, material choices, climate ethics, and life-centered design. Through creative exercises, case studies, and speculative futures, students examine the role of artists and designers in shaping more just and sustainable worlds. </div><div>Experience teaching at the college or university level is absolutely essential. Experience with Canvas or other LMS is a considerable advantage. The post requires teaching on campus in person, and there is no possibility of remote work. </div><div>Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:</div><div>This position is accountable to the Chair of Liberal Arts. Essential functions include:</div><ul><li>Deliver in-person instruction for assigned course sections.</li><li>Maintain scheduled office hours (minimum one hour per week per course).</li><li>Evaluate and grade student work promptly and in accord with institutional timelines.</li><li>Respond to student inquiries promptly.</li><li>Develop and submit course syllabus for departmental approval to deadlines.</li><li>Use institutional LMS for course delivery and communication.</li><li>Complete training in Canvas and use it as required by the department and college.</li><li>Deal promptly with all administrative responsibilities attached to this work.</li><li>Faculty are expected to comply with institutional policies, including those related to student privacy (FERPA), academic integrity, and Title IX.</li></ul><div> </div><div>Qualifications and Experience:</div><ul><li>Master’s degree in Sustainability or a closely related field. CCS’s <a href="https://campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu/policy/faculty-credentials-and-equivalent-tested-experience/" rel="nofollow">credentialing policy can be found here</a>.</li><li>College-level teaching experience.</li><li>Experience with Canvas or similar LMS.</li><li>Experience teaching diverse student populations.</li></ul><div> </div><div>WORK ENVIRONMENT:  This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. </div><div>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
