Software Development Manager***Augusta, Ga***Work Location & ScheduleThis is a hybrid position based in our Augusta, GA office. Our employees are among the brightest, most talented group of innovators who work collaboratively to improve our products and exceed customer expectations season after season.Are you a TaxSlayer?<h3>About the Role</h3>The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and supporting an engineering team that delivers critical capabilities for TaxSlayer’s products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and process ownership to ensure reliable delivery, strong engineering standards, and continuous improvement. The Software Development Manager works closely with cross-functional partners to align execution with organizational priorities and business objectives.<h3>What You’ll Be Doing</h3><ul><li>Lead and support a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions through effective prioritization, technical guidance, and performance management.</li><li>Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical plans</li><li>Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight across full-stack systems using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies</li><li>Ensure consistent delivery through agile best practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release management</li><li>Promote and enforce engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development standards</li><li>Identify and mitigate technical, delivery, and resourcing risks</li><li>Support hiring, onboarding, and team capacity planning in alignment with organizational needs</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h3>Must-Have Skills & Experience</h3><ul><li>Consistent on-time delivery of committed sprint and release objectives</li><li>High code quality demonstrated by low defect rates, strong test coverage, and system stability</li><li>Improved team engagement, retention, and individual skill growth</li><li>Effective cross functional collaboration as reflected in stakeholder feedback</li><li>Reduction of security vulnerabilities and operational incidents</li><li>Alignment of engineering output with business priorities and customer outcomes</li></ul><ul><li>Strong expertise in modern full-stack development, including C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS</li><li>Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular</li><li>Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL) and familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., Redis)</li><li>Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps), and DevOps technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes</li><li>Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and software architecture</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead teams in an Agile/Scrum environment</li><li>Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills</li><li>Ability to balance technical decision-making with people leadership and business priorities</li></ul><h3>Education & Certifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.</li><li>7+ years of professional software development experience</li><li>2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Experience in financial services or tax software domains.</li><li>Familiarity with domain-driven design.</li><li>Knowledge of modern state management principles.</li></ul><h3>Ready to Join Us?</h3>Apply today and be sure to opt in for text updates to stay connected with our recruiting team throughout the process!<hr/><h3>What We Offer</h3>At TaxSlayer, we know that our greatest strength lies in the talented individuals who drive our innovation and success.
