A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the completion of high school, supplemented by course work in auto, truck, and/or construction mechanics; and three years recent experience as a mechanic in automotive and heavy equipment repair are required (one year experience performing duties comparable to those of Fleet & Equipment Technician I with the City of Ventura plus two years additional experience). Key responsibilities include: Maintains motor vehicles and heavy equipment in safe and proper working condition by performing inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and electronic diagnostics on engines, brakes, steering, transmissions, suspension, hydraulics, electrical systems, and related components.
