Minimum Qualifications (Required): • Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or Urban Planning (with demonstrated design experience) or related field • Experience in or with a university or large academic institutional planning setting • Eight (8) or more years of progressively responsible relevant experience in planning, space planning, architecture, programming, urban design, or any equivalent combination of experience preferably in a university or other institutional setting • Current Massachusetts professional registration as an architect, or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months of hiring, or professional degree from an accredited architecture school and 3-5 years experience in professional practice required • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification with a demonstrated expertise in design and architecture may be considered as an alternative to this requirement • Strong written and verbal communication and team building skills • Displays knowledge of and commitment to planning, space planning, and sustainability principles, best practices, and techniques • Knowledge of building and utility systems, current energy efficient building systems; and energy conservation and management systems; administrative abilities • Knowledge of planning and administration, and current developments in campus planning including social and environmental considerations • Knowledge of design, cost, schedule and constructability of proposed capital projects • Knowledge of local, state, and national building and life safety codes and regulations, or ability to assimilate within three (3) months • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple concurrent demands and establish/meet priorities • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed. Additional Considerations: • Working knowledge of relevant software used in planning including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel & Project, Adobe Suite and/or equivalent; facility with REVIT and GIS software strongly preferred • Knowledge of and experience working within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regulatory framework for planning, design and construction, including procurement laws preferred.
