Ability to: plan, execute, and coordinate an effective safety and accident prevention program; plan, organize, and coordinate industrial safety and driver improvement programs; conduct countywide safety inspections and detect unsafe conditions and practices; schedule and conduct safety, driver training, and equipment operator training; conduct performance examinations and determine driver's competency; plan and instruct supervisors on principles and methods of instructing; assign, review, and supervise the work of subordinate trainers; instruct others in safety techniques, causes of accidents, and accident prevention; investigate and determine causes of accidents; deal tactfully and effectively with officials, supervisors, and employees; write clear and concise reports; and speak effectively before groups. Oversees and assists management with the monitoring and implementation of safety and accident prevention programs; participates in long-range planning and initial development of overall safety programs; oversees a comprehensive driver improvement and evaluation program for the County; and performs other related duties as required.
