DESCRIPTION Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor Operations Management and Capital Programs (OMCP) the Associate Vice Chancellor& University Architect for CPM (AVCUA-CPM) is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and overall management of planning, design, and construction for all campus and medical center capital projects and acts as professional advisor to the Vice Chancellor-OMCP, Chancellor, Regents, as requested, and other University officials on matters relating to the design, construction,and cost containment of facilities. Responsibilities include review and approval of construction documents, issuance of building permits, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) including enforcement and interpretation of building codes, federal, state, and local legislation and regulations that affect design and construction of UC San Diego capital projects, delegated authority to execute minor capital (>$750,000) construction contracts, inspector of record for all construction work on campus and medical centers, Certification of Substantial Completion; Notice of Completion and in conjunction with Campus Fire Marshal, co-sign Certificates of Occupancy.
