We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a dedicated Volunteer Services Coordinator to join our team at Marklund and help us grow our volunteer program in the Elgin area. With two residential locations – the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. A DAY IN THE LIFE:
<ul><li style="color:#00263e">Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects of project from the earliest stages of preconstruction through project closeout </li><li style="color:#00263e">Work closely with clients and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings and project budget</li><li style="color:#00263e">Participate in the proposal meeting with clients to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees </li><li style="color:#00263e">Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout process for all trades and vendors</li><li style="color:#00263e">Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule</li><li style="color:#00263e">Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan</li><li style="color:#00263e">Lead preconstruction planning meetings with all designers, subcontractors and vendors aimed at solving potential constructability, sequencing, and/or manpower issues </li><li style="color:#00263e">Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site once construction begins to review progress and address challenges directly with client</li><li style="color:#00263e">Track and manage project performance vs budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports </li><li style="color:#00263e">Most importantly…find a way to make the construction process FUN for your clients, subcontractors, and vendors without sacrificing on QUALITY or SAFETY!!!</li></ul>

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

This position is for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm - 8:30pm. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>Represent the Park District as a first point at the Equestrian Center; greet and assist as needed. </li><li>Assist Equestrian Manager with supervising volunteers and students. </li><li>Provides a friendly and positive atmosphere for park district patrons. </li><li>Answer all patron inquiries: in-person, telephone, messages from voicemail system. </li><li>Accountable for distributing all paperwork for student lessons, horse training, rentals, etc.as assigned by Equestrian Center Manager. </li><li>Responsible for monitoring and assisting with student lessons; Assurance that safety and proper procedures are followed by students at all times according to Park District Policy. </li><li>Maintains an open channel of communication to the Equestrian Manager and inform of problems or potential problems (ie disruptive behavior, injuries, dangerous equipment) including undesirable behaviors; assists with documentation when necessary. </li><li>Participate in the general care of horses including, but not limited to: putting them in safe turn out locations, hosing them when hot, feeding, medicating and monitoring environmental controls to keep horses safe and comfortable. </li><li>Monitor/Assist students with horse care during lesson activities as well as guiding to / from stalls to arena areas. </li><li>Assists with group lessons, activities and special events; this may include pony rides, grooming lessons.
