You will work closely with park management and fellow volunteers to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This is a flexible and rewarding opportunity to give back to the community, meet new people, and support the Park's One Park-One Team mission.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain good public relations with participants, parents/guardians, other staff members and general public.Responsible for keeping accurate records, maintaining records and completing reports as necessary.Maintain a clean, orderly, safe and secure environment for participants.Communicate effectively with staff, participants and parents/guardians.Enforce rules and regulations, policies and procedures in a responsible manner.Friendly, positive attitude and willingness to helpAbility to follow directions and work independently or as part of a teamPOTENTIAL VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS INCLUDE•Special Event Support:oStaff the Pelican Park booth during community eventsoDistribute seasonal park information and answer general questions•Guest Services:oServe as greeter and/or usher for events at the Castine CenteroAssist guests with directions, seating, and event-related inquiries•Nature Program Assistance:oSupport instructors or naturalists during outdoor programsoHelp with setup, cleanup, and participant engagement•Park & Facility Maintenance:oAssist with light maintenance tasks at park facilitiesoSupport trail maintenance efforts including debris clearing and upkeepKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse visitors.Ability to work collaboratively with a team of volunteers and park staff.Commitment to punctuality and following through on responsibilities.Flexibility in handling various tasks and responding to dynamic park environments.A passion for community service and a genuine interest in outdoor recreation and park activities.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSAt least 15 years of ageCurrent driver’s license issued by state of residence.Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report and background check.PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS (with or without accommodation)Ability to stand, walk, or move around for several hours during events or regular shifts. Provides person centered programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful dementia care programs within the Brookdale community enhancing their quality of life. Recognizes individual abilities and needs while encouraging independence and ensuring resident habits, historical routines, interests and preferences are honored in the provision of care and programming.Essential Functions <ul><li>Designs a 7 day a week person centered program that is engaging, creative and meets the needs and interests of the individual residents. Promotes and engages residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs in a dementia friendly structured environment; including sensory focused small group programming for residents who cannot participate in a larger group setting.</li><li>Develops a monthly calendar, in partnership with residents, based on residents' shared interests. Ensures person centered special events and daily path programs are scheduled and executed as scheduled.</li><li>Ensures dementia care programs are in compliance with Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST), Divisional Dementia Care Site visit tool, state, federal, and other regulations and meet Brookdale's mission, policies, procedures and dementia care standards as assigned by the Executive Director.</li><li>Collaborates with community leadership educating & providing resources to families and associates regarding Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. This includes how to engage residents and lead programs on an ongoing basis.
