Responsibilities:
This position will assist the Sr. Manager, Volunteer Activities with daily operations of volunteer program and coordinate regional volunteers. <ul><li>Follow up on volunteer opportunity inquiries. Research places to recruit volunteers. Prepare and send out volunteer flyers. Attend various community, business, education fairs, events, services and meetings to recruit volunteers.</li><li>Schedule, prepare and conduct new volunteer orientation and training classes.</li><li>Identify volunteers for SAHH training and conduct SAHH Volunteer training.</li><li>Schedule and perform initial and annual SAHH volunteer competencies.</li><li>Investigate SAHH Volunteer deviations and perform corrective competencies and retraining when required.</li><li>Create and distribute volunteer schedule to volunteers.</li><li>Schedule and coordinate volunteers at drives, donor centers, office and health/volunteer fairs and various other assignments.</li><li>Track changes, additions and cancellation of blood drives for volunteer schedule and notify volunteers when appropriate.</li><li>Enter and maintain volunteer information and data in Volunteer Management System inclusive of running various monthly reports.</li><li>Perform volunteer background checks and follow up on results.</li><li>Organize and prepare recognition events: book venue, plan agenda, acquire guest speaker, calculate statistics for awards, order gifts/awards, create and send invitations and other tasks as needed.</li><li>Prepare volunteer service letters </li><li>Communicate and engage volunteers for retention</li><li>Attend workshops as needed</li><li>Makes recommendations to improve business unit practices and processes.</li><li>Any related duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Education:<ul><li>High school diploma required; college degree preferred.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>2 – 3 years experience administrative and/or customer service experience preferably in Volunteer Services.</li></ul>Knowledge:<ul><li>Working knowledge of computerized systems.</li><li>Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).</li></ul> Skills & Abilities:<ul><li>Strong attention to detail in all work processes.</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.</li><li>High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of complex issues and situations involving volunteers, groups and/or staff.</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and with authority, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.</li><li>Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.</li><li>Ability to work in a strong team environment.</li></ul>Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job. For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hiring rate is $27.00p/hr. to $30.00p/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.

The prerequisites for joining are that you enjoy teamwork, are responsible, and are at least 18 years of age You will also need to pass our comprehensive physical agility test, background investigation, physical, and complete a drug screening.

We are always looking for bright and enthusiastic people to volunteer with Port Jefferson EMS. Our providers come from all walks of life including EMTs, paramedics, nurses and doctors but we also have students, teachers, police officers, and business workers. We are open to anyone who shares our ideals and is willing to make a commitment to give up some of their free time.As a volunteer, you will get the opportunity to provide your skills at many public events such as festivals, concerts, community and sporting events. But most importantly, you will have the opportunity to care for your fellow human beings and play an integral role devoted to saving lives. While on duty, your primary responsibility will always be to provide emergency care, however there is no reason why you can’t enjoy the events you attend.The prerequisites for joining are that you enjoy teamwork, are responsible, and are at least 18 years of age You will also need to pass our comprehensive physical agility test, background investigation, physical, and complete a drug screening.
