Must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills (engaging, empathic, non-judgmental, patient, tactful), characteristics considered essential for mastering the program's core competency areas (increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve positive parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and connection to services, improve parent, child and family health and well-being, prevent child abuse and neglect, increase children's school readiness and success, improve family economic well-being, strengthen community capacity and connectedness). The purpose of the Parent Educator position is to visit families and provide services and activities in accordance with Parents as Teachers (PAT) guidelines to develop positive and enduring relationships with families parenting young children.
