Engineering Technician III – Winston-Salem Construction 1 Department of TransportationEngineering Technician III – Winston-Salem Construction 1Forsyth County, North CarolinaJob duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring contractor’s daily operations; performing/reviewing test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans, and contract documents; performing contract administration duties such as pay record entry/review, materials-received reports, certified payroll review, daily diary review, as-constructed plans preparation, and monthly quantity verification prior to estimate payment; resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to project delivery; assisting other Department personnel and contract forces in utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work; anticipating contractual problems and advising engineering staff of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery, and/or quality of delivered project; monitoring contractor’s operations to ensure compliance with subcontract agreements and with the contract DBE requirements; and ensuring compliance with NC Sedimentation and Pollution Control Act, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with permits. This position manages all aspects of assigned construction projects with limited supervision from higher level engineers and will be directly involved with the leadership, management, counseling, and training of junior technicians, both Department and CEI.
