Examples of specialized experience includes performing hazard and risk assessment techniques to identify materials, evaluate conditions, and predict behavior during initial incident analyses, establishing on-scene control procedures and decontamination zones while utilizing specialized hazardous materials response equipment and protective gear, performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of complex facilities including those handling fuels, explosives, gases, or hazardous chemical agents, conducting physical prefire planning to assess building layouts, hazards, and fixed fire protection systems, executing personnel rescue operations and administering critical first aid, CPR, and medical transport preparation, and maintaining firefighting equipment and station facilities through regular functional testing, preventive maintenance, and strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Firefighter assigned to a crew engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, and Hazardous Materials Operations and assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards and reacting to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials as a first responder to protect persons, property, or the environment.
