The CST is responsible for preparing the operating room, equipment, instruments, supplies, and sterile field; assisting with patient preparation and positioning; anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team; maintaining strict aseptic technique; and supporting safe, high-quality surgical care. The Certified Surgical Technologist is an essential member of the surgical team who assists surgeons, nurses, anesthesia personnel, and other healthcare professionals in providing safe and efficient patient care before, during, and after surgical and invasive procedures.
