Main Responsibilities: <ul><li>Manually guide welding gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molted puddle. </li><li>Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. </li><li>Examine weld for bead size and other specifications. </li><li>Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal. </li><li>Clean or degrease weld joints or work piece(s). </li><li>Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes. </li><li>Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces. </li><li>Chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter. </li><li>Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace. </li><li>Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture. </li><li>Tack together assemblies. </li></ul> Required Qualifications: <ul><li> Associate's degree or completion certificate from two-year college or trade school.
