Duties may include cleaning rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and windows; maintaining floor surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, and polishing; and maintaining the general cleanliness of school buildings, including dusting, washing surfaces, emptying waste baskets, and replenishing restroom supplies. The Building Maintainer Substitute may also set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings, school activities, and other functions; prepare rooms for use by outside organizations; assist with basic building maintenance and repairs; move equipment, materials, and supplies; and clear snow, sand, or salt entrances and walkways when winter conditions apply.
