Performs general accounting tasks that may include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing summaries or supporting documentation for reports. All work is performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and appropriate standards and regulations. This position provides timely and accurate financial reports to management while supporting and leading the business unit accounting functions in the efficient handling of day to day operations.Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts of assigned business unitPrepares special accounting reports for management or regulatory authoritiesInvestigates potential problems and gathers appropriate data for solutionsPrepares and completes month end reporting of business unit resultsConducts financial analyses, audits, and/or investigations businesses expensesAssists in developing and monitoring accounting internal control programs for assigned unitProvides advice to financial managers and other accountants on unusual and difficult accounting systems and/or operations problemsAnalyzes financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budgetReconciles other general ledger accounts as assignedPrepares ad hoc analysis for managementAssists company external auditors and internal auditors, as needed, to ensure an efficient and effective audit processResolves disputed items and answer routine inquiriesPerforms balance sheet reconciliations as neededThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related fieldand three (3) years of accounting or directly related experienceOr High School Diploma andseven (7)years of directly related experienceSkills and CompetenciesAbility to build relationships with peers and complete assignments in a team environment and independentlyExcellent organizational and problem‑solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)Strong attention to detailExperience with Tax Accounting Preferred.This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.Compensation DetailsJob Range TargetMinimum $62,542.15 USD50th Percentile $86,430.00 USDIncentive Pay PlansThis job is not incentive eligible.LocationBirmingham, AlabamaEqual Opportunity Employer/including Disabled/VeteransJob applications at Regions are accepted electronically through our career site for a minimum of five business days from the date of posting.
