BG Staffing is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join the accounting team of a respected affordable housing management company serving the Greater Boston area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has experience managing the full accounts payable cycle. Candidates with RealPage and/or Spend Management experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all accounts payable functions for the organization, including invoice processing, vendor payments, account reconciliations, and support of the accounting department's financial reporting activities. This role will assist with maintaining the books and records for a portfolio of properties while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Functions

• Process and match vendor invoices to supporting documentation
• Enter invoices accurately into the accounting system
• Review invoices for proper approvals and coding
• Prepare and process vendor payments
• Cut and distribute checks to vendors
• Review accounts payable statements and resolve discrepancies
• Respond to vendor payment inquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Process and review company credit card statements
• Set up and maintain vendor records and documentation
• Coordinate with team members and other departments to facilitate the accounts payable cycle

Accounting Support

• Maintain financial records for a portfolio of affordable housing properties
• Prepare bank reconciliations
• Assist with month-end closing activities
• Support account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
• Process payments and maintain accurate accounting records
• Assist with special projects and other accounting assignments as needed
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 2 years of related accounting or accounts payable experience
• Strong understanding of accounts payable procedures and general accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Preferred

• Experience in the affordable residential property management industry
• Experience with RealPage or similar property management accounting software
• Experience with Spend Management platforms
• Knowledge of affordable housing operations and compliance requirements

The portfolio includes properties with project-based Section 8 contracts and other affordable housing programs. These communities are financed through a variety of respected housing and lending institutions, including HUD-insured mortgages, MassHousing, MHIC, MHP, and conventional lenders.

Compensation
