Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting background, including at least eight years of accounting experience and five years of management-level experience. This individual should have a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly general ledger analysis, financial reporting, and month-end close.

• Contract Pay Rate: $55-$65/hour

• Target Permanent Salary: $110k-$125k

• Schedule: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Oversee general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable functions

• Lead and coordinate the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

• Review and analyze complex general ledger activity and recommend necessary correcting entries

• Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for internal teams and executive management

• Review detailed operating and maintenance cost reports for accuracy and completeness

• Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial statements and financial analyses

• Ensure revenues, expenses, liabilities, and assets are accurately recorded

• Improve account reconciliation processes, supporting documentation, and overall accuracy

• Identify and implement accounting and process improvements

• Assist with the external audit process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience

• Minimum of 5 years of management-level accounting experience

• Strong general ledger and account analysis experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• CPA preferred, but not required
