Westland Technologies Inc. is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to strengthen core general ledger accounting and support day‑time financial operations within a growing manufacturing organization. Westland designs and manufactures cost‑effective composite solutions for military and industrial applications.Reporting to the Controller, this role plays a key part in the monthly close and financial reporting process, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, reconciliation integrity, and understanding the drivers behind financial results. The Accounting Manager will ensure financial results are complete and reliable in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable government contracting requirements.This role is well‑suited for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who takes full responsibility for the quality of their work, is motivated to investigate discrepancies, understand system and process flow, and contribute to improvements in accounting processes and data integrity. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing accurate, well‑supported financial information.Key ResponsibilitiesManage day‑to‑day accounting, including journal entries, general ledger, and reconciliationsSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare financial reports and perform variance analysisMaintain general ledger integrity and ERP data accuracySupport compliance with GAAP, SOX controls, and government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS)Support revenue accounting to ensure accurate and consistent recording in line with company policiesManage payroll, fixed asset, and inventory accounting, including related processes and reportingSupport the Controller with cash flow analysisSupport audit preparation and documentationCollaborate cross‑functionally to support financial reporting and analysisIdentify and implement process improvementsProvide guidance and informal mentorship to junior staffQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required5–7 years of accounting experienceExperience supporting month‑end close processesWorking knowledge of GAAPExperience with ERP systems and accounting data integrityProficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and completeness of work productStrong analytical mindset with ability to investigate discrepancies and understand root causesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environmentEffective communication and collaboration skillsPreferred:CPA or MBA is a plusManufacturing and/or government contracting experience (FAR/DFARS) is a plusPrior experience mentoring or guiding team members preferredInterest in improving accounting processes, systems, and reporting efficiencyPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentMajority of work is performed in a typical office environment with no major sources of discomfort.
