Accounting Specialist Lifecycle Management | Richmond, VAFull-Time | In-OfficeLifecycle Management provides accounting and management services to a growing family of construction and real estate development companies, including Lifecycle Construction Services, a federal Design-Build contractor, and Rappahannock Development Group, a residential land development company.We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. This role will initially focus on accounts payable, subcontractor billing, credit cards, and accounts receivable, while also supporting general accounting activities.We are actively incorporating AI and automation into our accounting processes. As routine AP data entry becomes increasingly automated, this position will focus more on transaction review, accounting accuracy, compliance, and general ledger responsibilities, with the opportunity to grow into a Staff Accountant role.
Key Responsibilities- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices in Acumatica, ensuring accurate entity, project, GL, cost code, PO, and subcontract coding.
- Review subcontractor billings, including AIA payment applications, schedules of values (SOVs), retainage, change orders, and contract balances.
- Verify required lien waivers and supporting compliance documentation prior to payment.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Compliance, vendors, and subcontractors to resolve billing or documentation issues.
- Prepare biweekly payment runs and respond to vendor and subcontractor payment inquiries.
- Review and approve company credit card transactions, including coding and supporting documentation.
- Process customer invoices and assist with AR activity.
- Review daily activity across company cash accounts, clear posted transactions, and record bank fees and interest.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end close and other general accounting activities.
- Support continued improvements to AI-assisted accounting processes and workflows.
Qualifications- 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, AP, or related experience.
- Solid understanding of debits and credits, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
- Construction accounting experience, including AIA/SOV billing, retainage, and lien waivers, strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems; Acumatica experience is a plus.
- Comfortable learning and working with AI and automated accounting tools.
