Allen University Administrative Assistant (Part-Time) Location: On-Campus Position Department: Arts & Humanities Type: Part-Time Application Due: Open Until Filled Effective Date: Fall 2026 As Allen University continues to evolve into the best HBCU in South Carolina, we are seeking a dedicated and service-oriented staff member to join us in pursuit of All That Can Be Imagined. Reporting to the Dean of Arts & Humanities, this front-line position provides customer service and assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors for this department. The administrative assistant supports daily operations, including circulation, organization of materials, and basic technology assistance, while maintaining a welcoming environment and ensuring adherence to university policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: • General office management (i.e., monitoring and ordering new supplies as needed, ensuring office areas remain tidy) • Submitting purchase requisitions and helping monitor divisional budgets • Taking meeting minutes • Collecting and archiving faculty paperwork relevant to divisional operation and accreditation • Assisting faculty in submitting work orders and IT requests • Staffing the reception area and answering phone calls • Assisting faculty with printing and copying teaching materials • Working on special projects as assigned by the Dean of each division (i.e., compiling contact lists, creating flyers, drafting emails to communicate divisional events and programming, assisting with planning and hosting special events) Qualifications: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Good written and interpersonal communication skills • Understanding of and commitment to the institution's values and its mission of educating the students we serve To Apply: Email a completed application, cover letter, vitae, unofficial graduate transcripts and names, phone numbers and email of three professional references to: Dr. Kevin Trumpeter Dean of Arts & Humanities and Associate Professor of English Academic Affairs Allen University Columbia, SC 29204 ktrumpeter@allenuniversity.edu
