ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Under supervision, Court Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL) performs a wide variety of ASL interpretation services, in person or via remote videoconferencing, for Los Angeles Superior Court. Incumbents provide interpretation services for hearing-impaired jurors in non-courtroom settings, such as orientation and jury deliberation, as well as provide language access services to deaf and/or hard-of-hearing persons as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

SALARY
Full-time (A-Status): $8,373.18 - $8,603.36 Monthly
Part-time (C-Status): $366.38 Daily
Hourly as needed (F-Status): $45.80 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet the following requirement at the time of application:
Possession of a valid certificate as a "Certified Court Interpreter" for American Sign Language (ASL) issued by the Judicial Council of California on behalf of the State of California.

A Status Benefits (Full-time)
Choices Benefit Plan - Benefits may be purchased using a tax free monthly benefits allowance between $1,149.21 - $2,476.90 for the 2025 plan year (based on number enrolled in medical coverage). If the monthly cost of the benefits selected is less than the monthly allowance, the employee receives the difference as additional taxable pay. For further information click here.Deferred Compensation Plan (457) - Optional tax-deferred income plan that includes a County match of up to 4% of employees salary.
Vacation - All permanent and other designated categories of employees are eligible to earn paid vacation based on years of service. Vacation is based on continuous service and credited at the completion of each consecutive six-month period of employment.
Sick leave - Depending on the length of service and employment categories, up to one day of full pay per month of service is accrued monthly for qualifying service.
Holidays - 14 days per year.

Retirement Plan - A retirement plan is provided to full-time employees.
If the candidate is a "new member" of the Countys defined benefit plan (LACERA) on or after January 1, 2013, that persons pension will be limited under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). For these purposes, a "new member" is someone who first becomes a member of LACERA on or after January 1, 2013 - that is, someone first employed by the County on or after December 1, 2012 - unless she or he established reciprocity with another public retirement system in which she or he was a member before January 1, 2013. C Status Benefits (Part-time)

C Status employees work on part time basis and are eligible to participate in the County of Los Angeles Pension Savings Plan, a retirement and investment plan for part-time, temporary and seasonal employees who are not eligible to participate in the retirement programs provided through the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA).
