Assistant Cook San Pedro, California • Full-time $18 - $21 hourly

About the Job: The Original Las Brisas Restaurant is a long-standing, family-owned restaurant known for authentic Mexican food, consistency, and warm service. We are looking for a dependable Assistant Cook to support our kitchen team and work alongside our Chef/Founder.
This is a great opportunity for someone with commercial kitchen experience who takes pride in their work and wants to grow with a well-established local restaurant.
Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients and food items according to recipes and chef instructions.
Assist with daily food preparation and customer orders.
Keep workstations, refrigerators, and storage areas clean and organized.
Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
Maintain a clean and efficient kitchen throughout the shift.
Work closely with the Chef and other kitchen team members.
Assist with other kitchen duties as needed.
Requirements:
At least 1 year of commercial kitchen experience preferred.
Familiarity with Mexican cuisine is a plus.
Able to follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
Spanish-speaking ability preferred to communicate with the Chef/Founder.
Able to work effectively as part of a team.
Able to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies as needed.
Food Handler Card required as applicable; candidates without one may obtain it after hire.
Schedule & Pay:
Tuesday through Sunday.
Shifts begin at approximately 3 PM or 5 PM and continue until closing.
$18-$21 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
Opportunity for a pay increase following a 90-day performance evaluation.
