    Category: Non-Exempt

    Summary/Objective

    The Campus Operations Specialist / Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students, faculty, and staff across campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, route planning, and vehicle maintenance skills, while adhering to all safety and traffic regulations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collate and edit transport schedules based on passenger needs.
    • Arrive at designated collection points prior to scheduled departure times.
    • Ensure adherence to passenger limits, both seated and standing.
    • Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes when possible.
    • Record and report all major accidents and incidents to the supervisor.
    • Ensure passengers disembark at their correct destinations in a timely manner.
    • Maintain the shuttle bus in a clean, fueled, and roadworthy condition.
    • Observe all relevant traffic and safety laws.
    • Assist with campus mail pickup and delivery.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with a schedule that may vary throughout the year. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

    Travel

    This position requires regular local travel using a college-owned shuttle vehicle and a clean driving record.

    Work Environment

    This role may involve working in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, snow, ice, rain, or heat.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Valid Driver's License.
    • One or more years of relevant professional experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
    • Professional appearance and demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in an educational or non-profit environment.
    • Strong knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes.
    • First Aid certification is preferred.
    • Excellent route planning and improvisational skills.
    • Friendly and professional demeanor.

    Physical Demands

    • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours) on various surfaces.
    • Must be able to run, climb stairs and ladders, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
