Controller

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site
Compensation: $175,000+ DOE

Position Overview

An established and rapidly expanding home care agency is looking for an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of the organization's financial operations. This individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team, ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance while helping guide the company's continued growth across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll oversight, and cash management.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and overall financial health of the organization.
  • Develop financial reports and provide meaningful analysis to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, wage parity requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee financial operations for multiple entities and support continued organizational growth.
  • Evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements to increase profitability and efficiency.
  • Strengthen internal controls and implement best practices across accounting processes.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and operational improvements.
  • Assist with financial systems, process automation, and technology enhancements.

Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
  • Create efficient workflows and establish clear financial procedures.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, and HR to support company objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred.
  • Home care, healthcare, or multi-location service industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing multi-entity accounting and payroll operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • CPA designation is a plus but not required.
