Director of Office Administration
Location: Century City, Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)
Salary: $250,000 commensurate with experience
 
Must Have the Following:
  • Senior law firm administration or professional services leadership experience
  • Current or recent management responsibility for a team of 50 employees
  • Direct partnership with managing partners, office leadership, and senior stakeholders
  • Strategic workforce planning and resource allocation experience
  • Financial performance leadership, including billing efficiency and budget accountability
  • Ability to align local office priorities with broader firm strategy
  • Experience leading managers and multi-layered administrative support teams
  • Proven consultative leadership in a complex, matrixed environment
 
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the senior strategic and operational partner to the Office Leader, Partners, and firm leadership for a Century City office of approximately 150 attorneys and business services professionals.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts that align local office priorities, workforce needs, resource allocation, and operational initiatives with broader firm goals.
  • Provide consultative direction to office leadership on workforce planning, staffing models, organizational design, talent needs, and support-service delivery.
  • Evaluate office financial performance and identify opportunities to improve billing efficiency, productivity, expense management, resource utilization, and overall operating results.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop eight direct reports across office administration, finance, and support services.
  • Provide oversight to a senior Office Oversight Support Manager who manages a team of approximately 37 executive assistants, paralegals, IT professionals, legal assistants, and related support staff.
  • Partner with finance, technology, people, legal support, real estate, and other enterprise teams to execute firmwide initiatives locally.
  • Drive change management, process improvement, and technology adoption initiatives that improve client service, attorney support, and employee experience.
  • Monitor operational metrics, financial trends, staffing needs, and strategic initiative outcomes; present recommendations and progress updates to office and firm leadership.
  • Oversee office administration, facilities, vendor relationships, infrastructure, emergency response readiness, employee engagement, and business continuity planning.
  • Ensure local policies, procedures, and people practices are implemented consistently and in alignment with firm standards, employment requirements, and organizational priorities.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high-accountability office culture across attorneys, business services professionals, and leadership teams.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible office administration, business services, operations, HR, or law firm management experience.
  • Significant experience in a law firm, legal services, or similarly complex professional services environment.
  • Current or recent experience managing an organization or team of 50 employees, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Demonstrated success serving as a strategic, consultative partner to Partners, office leadership, or senior executives.
  • Proven experience leading workforce planning, resource allocation, financial performance initiatives, and operational strategy.
  • Experience managing managers and multi-level teams across administrative, finance, legal support, technology, or office services functions.
  • Strong understanding of law firm economics, billing efficiency, staffing models, budgeting, and operational performance measures.
  • Proven ability to lead through change, influence without direct authority, and navigate a matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional executive communication, judgment, discretion, analytical ability, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to travel and adjust working hours as business needs require.
