ETL Test Engineer - Healthcare (Medicaid Claims Processing)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced ETL Test Engineer with a strong background in Healthcare Payer systems, specifically supporting the Medicaid line of business and Claims Processing. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in ETL and Data Warehouse testing, data validation, and healthcare data flows, with the ability to ensure high-quality data integration across complex enterprise systems.
This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, data architects, developers, and QA teams to validate healthcare data transformations and ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance across the data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute ETL testing strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Validate source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and business rules.
- Perform data reconciliation and data quality testing across multiple systems.
- Execute end-to-end testing of healthcare data integration and reporting solutions.
- Validate Medicaid claims, membership, provider, eligibility, encounter, and payment data.
- Identify, analyze, and track defects through resolution.
- Work closely with business and technical teams to clarify requirements and ensure successful delivery.
- Support system integration testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing, and production validation activities.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of ETL/Data Warehouse Testing experience.
- Strong hands-on SQL experience, including complex query development and data validation.
- Experience testing ETL processes and large-scale data integration solutions.
Prior experience working for a Healthcare client with focus on:
- Medicaid Programs
- Healthcare Claims Processing
- Claims Adjudication
- Member and Provider Data
- Eligibility and Enrollment
Experience validating high-volume healthcare transactional data.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Required Domain Experience
Candidates must have prior experience supporting Healthcare
Payer organizations and demonstrate working knowledge of:
- Medicaid line of business
- Claims lifecycle and adjudication processes
- Healthcare membership and enrollment
- Provider management
- Encounter data processing
- Authorization and utilization management
- Payment and reimbursement processes
- HIPAA-compliant healthcare environments
Preferred Technical Skills
- ETL tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, SSIS, or equivalent.
- Databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
- Data Warehouse concepts including Fact and Dimension modeling.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or other test management tools.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of EDI transactions including 837 Claims, 835 Remittance, and related healthcare data exchanges.
- Experience with Healthcare Data Warehouse or Enterprise Data Platform initiatives.
- Prior experience supporting State Medicaid agencies or Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).
