Excel Tutoring Site Coordinator

Description of Service Opportunity

The Excel Tutoring program launched during the 2023-2024 school year to provide additional afterschool academic support to students who need it most. Now entering its third year, the Excel Tutoring program supports hundreds of students across our elementary and upper schools.

The Excel Tutoring program is an in-person afterschool high-impact tutoring program in the Cambridge Public Schools. Excel Tutoring uses intensive relationship-based and personalized instruction to accelerate learning for students who are performing two or more grade levels below expectations.

We offer two 10-week sessions throughout the school year. Site Coordinators can work one or two sessions. Site coordinators help to gather children, hand out snacks, document sessions for program newsletters, connect with caregivers, and ensure smooth dismissal procedures.

2025-2026 Session Information

• Session I: 10/6/25 - 11/29/25 - Staff professional learning week and preparation
• Session II: 2/26/26 - 5/28/26 - Staff professional learning and preparation week of 2/26

Schedule

Tuesdays & Thursdays from school dismissal - late bus

Site Coordinator Responsibilities

• Ensuring student safety in arrival and dismissal procedures
• Maintaining student and staff attendance records
• Building relationships with students during the tutoring program
• Sharing regular program updates with families and caregivers
• Attending professional learning sessions as applicable
• Providing substitute coverage when tutors are absent as needed (paid at lead teacher rate)

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience working with school-aged children in an urban setting
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues in support of students
• Priority will be given to regularly appointed staff from Cambridge Public School District

Length of Contract

February 2, 2026 to May 29, 2026

Contract Amount

Not to exceed $61.70

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
