The office is located in downtown Port Angeles.Duties and Essential Functions of a Legal Assistant 1Under the supervision of the Paralegal 2/Office Lead, this position performs general clerical work and basic technical legal assignments within the Port Angeles Regional Services Division. The duties include, but are not limited to:Extracting and verifying case data for accurate and timely processing of legal documents and entering key dates and other data in the agency's case management database;Mail and e‑mail processing;Processing receipt of dependency petitions;Organizing and sending large certified mailings regarding ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) to various parties;Receiving and distributing discovery via Managed File Transfer;Maintaining a multi‑function device;Scanning paper documents to electronic form for long‑term record retention;Answering and routing phone calls;Greeting clients and the general public when in office;Other duties as assigned.While the duties can seem overwhelming at first glance, the desired candidate will understand the ebb and flow of assignments and develop efficient processes over time.
