Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Our client, a growing defense litigation Houston area law firm, has a newly created opportunity for an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join their team. The firm is seeking someone detail-oriented and highly organized to provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to multiple attorneys within a fast-paced law office environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of court filing procedures and legal documentation. This role requires the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments while consistently meeting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience in a law office setting providing clerical support to multiple attorneys
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules, court filing procedures and electronic filing (e-filing), Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
  • Prior experience supporting multiple attorneys in a litigation-focused environment
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems

Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative and clerical support to attorneys within the office
  • Preparing and formatting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials
  • Managing attorney calendars, deadlines, and scheduling as needed
  • Creating and maintaining digital and paper legal files
  • Filing documents with courts in accordance with federal, state, and local rules
  • Assisting with document management and case file organization
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of legal documentation

This position handles both administrative and billable tasks and is in the office 5 days per week.
