The Litigation Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team with the preparation, management, and resolution of commercial insurance property claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling such claims, excellent organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including the preparation and organization of case files.
Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support case strategy.
Draft, review, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
Coordinate and manage the scheduling of depositions, hearings, and other court-related activities.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to obtain necessary information and documentation.
Maintain and update case management databases and ensure all files are accurately documented and accessible.
Assist in trial preparation, including the organization of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
Monitor and manage case deadlines and ensure timely submission of filings.
Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing calendars, and processing mail related to litigation cases.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field (preferred, not required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation assistant, preferably with a focus on commercial insurance property claims.
Strong understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and litigation processes.
Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electronic document management systems.
Familiarity with state and federal court systems and procedures.
