Position:Litigation Legal Assistant Location: In-Person — Houston, TX Job Type: Full-Time (Monday through Friday; 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM)

Job Summary
This position involves working with plaintiff and defendant attorneys, providing a full range of support including preparation and revision of correspondence, pleadings, and documents; calendar maintenance for assigned attorneys; filing and electronic transcription; e-filing; typing, copying, faxing, scanning, and presentation preparation and binding; and general attorney support, including preparing expense reports and tracking legal invoices.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist with case preparation; prepare correspondence, pleadings, corporate and real estate documents, and other clerical assignments.
Handle confidential and time-sensitive material. Run conflict checks and open new client engagements as requested. Complete case intake data entry.
Maintain attorney calendars, CLE tracking, reports, and time records. Maintain court dockets for attorneys.
Handle e-filing, copying, faxing, scanning, binding, and presentation preparation.
Manage various office and client filing; proofread documents. Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Answer phones and communicate with clients and courts on a daily basis.
Qualifications and Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe.
Between 2 and 5 years of recent secretarial experience (litigation, commercial, or real estate) within a law firm.
Typing speed of 60+ wpm. Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures a plus, along with law firm case management software.
Solid understanding of technical legal terminology and court filings.
Experience with trial preparation and briefs.
Punctual with excellent attendance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent proofreading skills.
Ability to multi-task and respond to deadlines in a timely manner while balancing workload.
Strong organizational skills, professional demeanor, and professional attire.
High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree preferred.
Notary a plus. Bilingual a plus.
Education & Certificates
Bachelor's degree (a plus), Notary, and Bilingual capability preferred.
Experience
Microsoft Office: 3 years preferred.
