This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Texas Litigation Services teams, in collaboration with the Litigation Services Managing Attorney, while developing and supervising the Texas Litigation Services team and playing an active role in hiring, assignment, training, and evaluation of the staff, including recommendations regarding salary and bonus administration. This role will be located in our Austin office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Responsibilities & QualificationsOther key responsibilities include:Using Westlaw Edge, Lexis+, Courtlink, Lex Machina, and other research platforms to provide high-level legal research and analysis with respect to procedural issues across many jurisdictions; where appropriate, serving as a resource for strategic legal analysis relating to general litigation procedure and rule interpretation, and remaining abreast of legal trends to ensure comprehensive and current guidance to attorneys and staffDemonstrating an advanced knowledge of applicable court rules and procedures; applying court rules in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and in a manner that instills confidence and ensures risk managementDeveloping a repository of judicial insight, including: (1) the review of transcripts to identify themes relevant to pending matters, (2) the compilation of case precedent, recent decisions of interest, reversal rates, motion timing analytics, and judicial biography with notable cases and lawyer commentary, and (3) the tracking of attorney experience before applicable judgesPreparing procedural road maps in advance of major court filings to flag applicable rules and requirements, identifying areas of concern (such as preservation of confidentiality), offering relevant templates and precedent, and streamlining collaboration with all team members (including attorneys, Litigation Services, and paralegals, where appropriate) in anticipation of upcoming submissionsIn collaboration with the Litigation Services Managing Attorney, ensuring that case deadlines are correctly calculated and calendared, overseeing and participating in court and agency filings in paper and electronic formats, adhering to individual court and judicial procedures, and ensuring that applicable deadlines are metProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe'd love to hear from you if you:Demonstrate excellence in oral and written communication skillsDisplay the ability to articulate complex court rules and calendaring issues in a comprehensible, accurate, confident, and concise mannerPossess well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the FirmAnd have:A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law schoolCurrent bar admission in the state of the practice office or its main jurisdiction of litigationA minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Litigation Services role; a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Litigation Associate and/or as a court employee may be consideredA minimum of two (2) years or more of experience in a supervisory capacity, preferablyBenefits & Additional InformationSuccessful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
