Manager, Project Accounting

Job Title

Oversee all aspects of project accounting for a portfolio of large-scale construction projects, including projects valued at $50M+. Manage financial reporting across multiple projects, ensuring accurate revenue, profitability, cash flow and cost reporting in accordance with GAAP. Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, including project reconciliations, cost tracking and financial analysis. Manage, mentor and develop a team of Project Accountants, providing ongoing training, guidance and performance support. Partner closely with project management teams and business unit leadership to monitor project financial performance and identify potential risks. Prepare, analyze and distribute project-level and business unit financial reports. Serve as a key point of contact for internal audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities and improve operational efficiencies. Support ongoing system improvements and the transition to Oracle. Collaborate with senior accounting leadership to support departmental planning, resource allocation and strategic initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements: 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on project accounting within the construction industry. Prior experience working for a large-scale general contractor or national construction firm is essential. Proven people management experience, including directly supervising and developing accounting professionals. Strong understanding of project costing, reconciliations, cost tracking and financial reporting. Experience managing the financial performance of multiple large, complex construction projects. Solid knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and month-end/year-end close processes. Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems. Excellent communication, organizational and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and senior leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting construction projects within the technology, data center, mission-critical or government sectors. Background working with a major national general contractor. Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle and/or Power BI. Experience overseeing high-value, multi-year construction projects. A proactive, hands-on leadership style with a strong focus on team development and process improvement.
