The Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture is seeking an organized and customer service focused recreation professional for the full-time position of Olde Towne Youth Center Facility Coordinator to manage and oversee the daily safe and efficient operation of the facility, its programs and activities. As the Facility Coordinator, you will ensure that middle-school-aged participants have a welcoming space to gather after school for recreational opportunities, social interaction, healthy physical activity, study groups, field trips, fun learning activities that align with the environmentally friendly features of the Youth Center, and various other activities. The Youth Center serves students from Gaithersburg and Forest Oak Middle Schools, and features a recording studio and a computer lab.
Olde Towne Youth Center is one of the City's green municipal buildings, offering its young patrons a variety of features designed to minimize environmental impact. From the site location to the chemical composition of the paint, every aspect of the building has been thoughtfully crafted to be both innovative and environmentally friendly. The center was designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification standards, with green features including a geothermal heating and cooling system that conserves energy and reduces air pollution, cabinets made from rapidly renewable wheatboard, floors crafted from recycled tires and rubber, ENERGY STAR windows, light sensors to optimize energy use, forest-certified wood to support sustainable forestry, and insulation made from recycled blue jeans.
We are looking for a creative, resourceful, and enthusiastic individual with experience and understanding of facility and personnel management, financial operations, and community relations. You must have strong supervisory skills, be able to coordinate with internal and external customers, and work effectively with a diverse population. Taking initiative and ownership of a variety of responsibilities, exercising good judgment, and setting a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow are essential. You must be an effective communicator, computer savvy, able to juggle multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs and priorities, and work effectively independently and as part of the team. Youll be joining an innovative and collaborative team committed to promoting positive youth development and providing diverse opportunities for middle school youth.
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; a core work schedule will be established upon hire. Some evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required to support operational needs.
