Key Responsibilities for the Property Accountant

• 
  
• Prepare and record monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
• 
  
• Reconcile bank accounts, escrow accounts, and reserve accounts
• 
  
• Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, mortgages, taxes, and tenant-related accounts
• 
  
• Track and reconcile capital expenditures and fixed asset activity
• 
  
• Record depreciation and maintain fixed asset records
• 
  
• Prepare accounting entries for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing activities, and other complex transactions
• 
  
• Analyze lease commissions, tenant improvements, and capital projects to ensure proper accounting treatment
• 
  
• Partner with Property Management teams to review monthly operating results and variance analyses
• 
  
• Assist with consolidated financial reporting, annual budgeting, audits, tax support, and lender reporting requirements
• 
  
• Support tenant reconciliations, estimates, and other lease-related accounting activities
• 
  
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests
• 
  

Qualifications for the Property Accountant

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required
• 
  
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• 
  
• Real estate, property accounting, or commercial real estate experience strongly preferred
• 
  
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• 
  
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems
• 
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
