Help shape the financial integrity of a growing employee-owned company

At HB McClure, we've been serving Central Pennsylvania for more than 100 years. As an employee-owned company, we believe our success starts with our people. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the accuracy, integrity and timely reporting of our financial records.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of accounting functions while partnering closely with leadership on financial reporting, compliance, and process improvements. If you're someone who enjoys digging into accounting and tax questions, researching regulations, and developing practical solutions, we'd love to talk with you.

    What You'll Do

    • Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts and complete month-end reporting processes.
    • Manage the company’s business non-income tax compliance by researching filing requirements, preparing required tax filings, monitoring regulatory changes, and ensuring timely, accurate compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Research accounting and regulatory issues, evaluate requirements, and develop practical recommendations to support business decisions and compliance initiatives.
    • Gather information and supporting documentation for annual insurance and financial statement audits.
    • Partner with accounting team members and other departments to develop and improve accounting policies, practices and procedures.
    • Support ERP system initiatives and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
    • Collaborate with the Controller and accounting team to support accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
    • Provide backup support for designated accounting functions and special projects as needed.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
    • Candidates must bring at least one of the following:
    • CPA with at least 2 years in public accounting or equivalent accounting experience within the construction industry.
    • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, municipal, and local tax regulations, including multi-state sales and use tax.
    • Experience researching regulatory or accounting requirements and using those findings to develop clear, actionable recommendations.
    • Ability to perform complex reconciliations and maintain accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently while supporting broader team and organizational objectives.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and reconciliations.
    • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct and BuildOps is a plus.

    Why HB McClure?

You'll join a collaborative team where your expertise is valued, your contributions make an impact, and you'll have opportunities to continue growing professionally.

    Benefits include:

    • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
    • 401(k) with company granted contributions
    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • HSA with company contribution
