Overview
Under the general supervision of the Histology Manager in the Department of Pathology, this role supports the maintenance, organization, and retrieval of pathology slides and tissue blocks within a high-volume clinical laboratory environment. The position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate filing, labeling, and accessibility of materials, along with proficiency in medical terminology and computer systems for tracking and documentation. Success in this role depends on clear communication, the ability to learn and navigate laboratory information systems (including CoPath and related applications), and a commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.
Required Skills and Abilities
1.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written communication.
Ability to accurately sort, organize, and file slides and blocks in sequential order, ensuring proper labeling and accessibility.
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrated excellent computer skills and proficient in learning new software systems.
Advanced organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability accessioning specimens in CoPath and Footprints.
Ability to lift and pull 20-30 lbs.

Required Education and Experience
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
