Senior Business Development Manager – Life Sciences

Location: Boston, MA 02110
Schedule: Full-Time | Remote, Boston-based
Travel: Approximately 30%
Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 base + ~$70,000 target commission
Target Earnings: Approximately $190,000–$220,000+ | Uncapped Commission

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager to join a growing life sciences organization and expand its presence throughout the Greater Boston/Cambridge biotech and biopharma market.

This is a newly created position offering significant visibility and autonomy. The successful candidate will inherit selected existing customer relationships while also developing new business across biotech, biopharma, CRO, diagnostics, genomics, and academic/research organizations.

What You'll Do

• Develop new biotech and biopharma business throughout Greater Boston and the Northeast
• Build and manage relationships with scientific, R&D, and business decision-makers
• Grow an existing book of business while prospecting for new accounts
• Lead consultative sales discussions to understand customers' scientific and research needs
• Develop proposals and scopes of work and guide opportunities through negotiation and close
• Sell a combination of life science research products and complex scientific services
• Attend industry conferences, networking events, and customer meetings
• Collaborate with scientific, operational, marketing, and commercial teams

Portfolio

The organization offers a broad portfolio that includes biospecimens, research kits and reagents, reference controls, IHC/histopathology, spatial biology, extracellular vesicle technologies, gene delivery solutions, prospective biospecimen collection, and laboratory/research services.

Opportunities can range from smaller research-product sales to complex scientific engagements valued at $500K+.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a related scientific discipline required
• 3–5+ years of successful life sciences sales/business development experience
• Experience selling into biotech, biopharma, CRO, diagnostics, or related research organizations
• Strong understanding of biological sciences and ability to communicate with technical/scientific customers
• Experience with consultative selling and complex sales cycles
• Demonstrated ability to develop new customer relationships and grow accounts
• Strong network within the Greater Boston/Cambridge life sciences community highly preferred
• Ability to work independently in a remote, territory-based position
• Willingness to travel approximately 30%

Experience with research services, preclinical/discovery CRO services, biospecimens, spatial biology, diagnostics, molecular/cell biology products, or other complex life science solutions is especially valuable.
