Java Backend Engineer (Spring Boot) - Hybrid | Dearborn, MI - in aattendanceTuesday through Friday each week.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Engineer to join a dynamic software engineering team focused on building scalable, cloud-based applications and services. In this role, you will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend solutions that power critical business applications. Youll work closely with product owners, architects, frontend developers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions using modern technologies and development practices.

What Youll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions
• Build and support cloud-native applications leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and infrastructure
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with upstream and downstream enterprise systems
• Partner with frontend developers to support seamless integration with React-based user interfaces
• Design and optimize database solutions, data models, and application performance
• Support application deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support activities
• Follow established software architecture standards, coding practices, and development guidelines
• Participate in Agile development ceremonies, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions
• Improve application resiliency, reliability, scalability, and overall system performance

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of overall IT experience
• 4+ years of hands-on software development experience
• Strong experience developing applications with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with cloud-based application deployment and support
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design, and application architecture
• Experience working with relational databases and data management technologies
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React development
• Experience developing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with API integrations and enterprise service architecture
• Experience with cloud deployment, monitoring, and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of modern microservices architecture and distributed systems
