The Senior Account Executive & Employee Benefits Lead serves as a senior client advisor, strategic consultant, and operational leader within the Employee Benefits Department. This role manages complex client relationships, leads renewal and service strategies, supports business development efforts, mentors team members, and drives operational excellence across the practice. The position is designed as a key leadership step within the Employee Benefits career path and supports recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
· Manage large and complex employee benefits accounts.
· Lead strategic renewal planning, client presentations, vendor and carrier negotiations.
· Support producers with new business opportunities, quoting, and cross-selling initiatives.
· Serve as senior escalation point for client service issues and claims concerns.
· Track activities and maintain documentation in agency systems.
· Maintain executive-level client relationships.
· Conduct regular stewardship and planning meetings.
· Provide compliance and benefits education support.
· Lead and mentor Account Managers, Marketing, and CSR’s.
· Develop best practices, workflows, and service standards.
· Partner with leadership on growth initiatives and succession planning.
· Monitor book-of-business performance and retention.
· Identify operational efficiencies and process improvements.
· Support agency growth, profitability, and client satisfaction goals.
· Model Leavitt values and professional standards.
· Drive accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
· Support career development across the Employee Benefits team.
Minimum Qualifications
7–10 years of commercial employee benefits insurance experience, preferably in an Account Executive or similar client-facing role.
Previous supervisory, team lead, or people leadership experience is strongly preferred.
· Current Health & Life License required.
· Continuing education and applicable compliance training required.
· Strategic consulting and client advisory skills.
· Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and presentation capabilities.
