We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the FP&A team with a primary focus on gross margin analysis, forecasting, and business decision support. This role will develop and maintain gross margin forecasts by integrating quotation data, sales and backlog information, product costs, and accounting actuals.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and financial modeling skills, a solid understanding of gross margin and cost drivers, and the ability to work with large and complex data sets. This is a high-visibility role with significant exposure to Finance leadership and cross-functional business partners, offering the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of SMC's products, operations, and business drivers.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the FP&A team to support enterprise-level financial analysis, forecasting, and decision support across the business. The role will contribute to a wide range of analytical activities, including cash flow planning, quotation analysis, forecasting, and ad hoc business support, with a strong focus on integrating financial data across commercial, operational, and accounting views.

This position will work closely with cross-functional teams and finance leadership to help translate complex data into meaningful insights. The ideal candidate is adaptable, analytical, and comfortable operating in an evolving environment where priorities may shift based on business needs. This is a high-visibility role with exposure to senior leadership and opportunities for growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of SMC's products, production processes, and cost structure to identify key drivers of gross margin performance.
• Develop and maintain quotation-based gross margin analysis and forecasting, integrating quotation, backlog, sales forecast, product cost, and accounting actuals.
• Perform gross margin analysis across customers, products, and business segments to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Partner with Sales, Production, Supply Chain, Cost Accounting, and other organizations to validate forecast assumptions and provide actionable financial insights.
• Establish dynamic reporting structures covering quotation, forecast, actual, and variance analysis to improve gross margin visibility and forecast accuracy.
• Create informative dashboards and management reports to communicate gross margin trends, forecast changes, and key business drivers.
• Apply strong data management and analytical skills to manage large data sets, improve forecasting processes, and support ad hoc business analysis

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree or CFA/CPA a plus).
• 8+ years of experience, or 5+year of experience with Master's degree in FP&A, financial analysis, cost management, accounting, or related finance roles.
• Strong analytical skills with experience working with large, complex data sets.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial systems or reporting tools; SAP experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of gross margin, financial statements, variance analysis, and product costing; experience with quotation or pricing analysis is a plus.
• Strong business partnering and communication skills; manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Salary Range

$130,000 - $150,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
