Description

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority has two full-time position available for a Staff Accountant II to performs intermediate skilled technical work preparing and processing journal entries, analyzing and processing bank deposits, managing fixed assets and processing depreciation, reconciling bank revenue, analyzing financial statements in accordance to GAAP and compliance to company policy, analyzing and preparing account general ledger reconciliations, processing travel requests and credit card invoices, preparing 1099 miscellaneous statements to vendors in accordance to Internal Revenue Service, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under supervision of the Senior Accountant.

Job Duties:

Analyzes financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policies
  • Prepares month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing journal entries
  • Prepares work papers, financial statements and various reports for auditors and internal staff
  • Prepares month-end preliminary and final reports for agency/staff
  • Receives edits for month-end reports and prepares journal entries as needed
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the operations of the reporting units assigned. Assists the agency staff to understand their financial reports, recognize trends, and identify missing or misclassified transactions.
  • Analyzes and prepares GL account reconciliations as needed
  • Develops a thorough understanding of, monitors and maintains systems, procedures and policies including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Assists Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst with proper expenditure coding, documentation and other accounting related activities
  • Acts as a liaison with regional finance departments
  • Monitors regional invoices and payments to facilitate accurate reconciliation and regional reporting
  • Reconciles Federal Grants
  • Manages fixed assets and processes depreciation
  • Serves as currier when needed and as directed
  • Serves as back up to Staff Accountant I as needed
  • Serves as back up to Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst as needed
  • Researches transactions, accounting guidance, and regulations as assigned by the Senior Accountant/ Financial Reporting Analyst, Controller or CFO
  • Assist Senior Accountant with unclaimed checks/property and process associated reporting to the State
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Controller or CFO
Position Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or in finance or business administration with coursework in accounting, and at least two years of accounting experience.
  • Excel skilss a must.
Special Requirements
  • Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Starting Salary Range
$71,000
