About the Role

This position serves as a core general ledger Staff Accountant for a heavy industrial manufacturing company. Reporting to the Accounting and Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant manages corporate general ledger accounting, journal entry processing, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, and month-end close execution.

This role balances daily general ledger maintenance with annual audit preparation, process improvement initiatives, and cross-departmental coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare and enter corporate journal entries, manage close task schedules, and review ledger activity for proper account coding to meet schedule cutoffs.
• 
  
• Account Reconciliations: Perform assigned general ledger account reconciliations, research balance variances, and compile accurate supporting schedules for financial analysis.
• 
  
• Fixed Assets & Capital Projects: Support fixed asset accounting, capital project tracking, depreciation schedules, and related asset balance reconciliations.
• 
  
• Audit & Compliance Support: Assist external auditors during annual audits; assemble supporting schedules and documentation for periodic reviews by external partners.
• 
  
• Process & Systems Enhancement: Initiate process and system improvements to streamline accounting workflows, increase reporting accuracy, and boost departmental efficiency.
• 
  
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance colleagues and operational departments to research accounting matters and resolve operational discrepancies.

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  
• 2+ years of hands-on GL accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity corporate environment.
• 
  
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance standards.
• 
  
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• 
  
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.
• 
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• 
  
• Prior experience in public accounting audit or tax services is a plus.
•
