Williams Mullen is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in the firm's day‑to‑day financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and professional services accounting within a collaborative law firm environment.What You'll Do As a Staff Accountant, you'll support a wide range of accounting functions while gaining hands‑on experience across the full accounting cycle:Complete accounting duties for trust accounts, including cash receipts, disbursements, transfers, client fund documentation, and compliance supportAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisSupport general ledger accounting and routine financial reportingPrepare and enter routine and adjusting journal entries, ensuring proper documentationAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, check requests, and payment trackingSupport month‑end and year‑end close activities by compiling reports and verifying accuracyEnsure closing processes are completed accurately and on timeAssist with Personal Property Tax filings and government reporting as neededCommunicate with internal stakeholders, clients, vendors, and third‑party accounting partners on financial mattersMaintain accurate electronic and physical accounting files in compliance with firm retention and confidentiality standardsPerform other accounting, financial, and administrative duties as assignedWhat We're Looking For This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to learn:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting and/or financial analysisAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of accounting practices in a law firm or professional services environment (preferred, not required)Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyEffective time‑management and prioritization skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to maintaining confidential financial informationWhy Williams Mullen At Williams Mullen, we value collaboration, professionalism, and continuous development.
